11 Simple Tricks To Creating Extra Storage Out Of A Small Bedroom

Living in a small room is not for the wimps - how are you supposed to sleep comfortably and at the same time fit all your stuff in there?

Fortunately, there are life hacks to making your small bedroom a much functional haven that at the same time caters to your storage needs. Apartment Therapy suggests these 11 simple tricks to creating extra storage out of a small bedroom:

1.    Keep pretty baskets under your bed instead of just sliding in whatever you need to hide and turn the space into a tiny junk yard. Nice looking baskets are a great place to stash extra stuff plus they are nice to look at unlike the traditional under bed boxes that are usually dull and made of plastic.

2.    If you haven't got enough space to place baskets under your bed, you can try to customize an under bed rolling storage - IKEA is a nice play to look for one!

3.    Save on floor space by putting up shelves a few feet from the ceiling running the length of the room - that's a good space for things that you don't use too often.

4.    An uncommon storage spot but something you can totally do is a shelf over the door. It adds to the character of your door aside from gaining that extra space.

5.    Lacking closet space or having no closet at all? There are freestanding wardrobes that you can position on either side of the bed. The good thing is, they look almost built in so they won't look like an after-thought or out of place.

6.    If you have a free corner, you can install a rod or bar and make it as extra hanging storage for clothes, belts, or scarves.

7.    The wall where your bed goes against is almost a dead space. So why not install a shelve or cabinet above the bed? Just make sure you position it accordingly so you don't hit your head when you rise from the bed.

8.    Or, if you don't want to risk banging your head by putting a big storage above the bed, you can do the shelving lengthwise instead.

9.    If you need extra space for your favorite books, or a picture frame, you can mount small shelves next to your bed for a little extra storage.

10.  Use the back of your door as storage space for your jewelry and whatnots by installing pot rails and hooks.

11.  Instead of using a regular, boring nightstand, try to look for a vintage trunk which isn't only stylish, but also a great space to stash your extra stuff in.
