'Microsoft Surface Pro 4' Release Date, Specs & Preview: New Laplet To Be Unveiled This Week In Build Conference? [Rumors]

Ever since Microsoft came out with the Surface Pro 3 and the Surface 3, fans of the hybrid devices have been looking forward to see what's next for the brand. Now, it seems that the long wait is over as reports point to the Surface Pro 4 arriving this week in a tech conference.

According to Crossmap, the highly anticipated next generation laplet hybrid device could be shown at the Build Conference of Microsoft happening from April 29 to May 1.

It was just early in April when the company came out with the Surface 3, a huge surprise to the market as many were waiting for the Pro 4 instead. As early as two weeks ago, reports have been circulating that the successor to the Surface Pro 3 is coming out soon, noted IB Times.

While the event would showcase the new device, it is not immediately available for purchase in the market. The site reported that production of the hybrid laplet is scheduled to begin in June, which would see it hit shelves in time for the second half of 2015 and just in time when Microsoft comes out with Windows 10.

Reports of the device's unveiling came about as the Surface Pro 3 encountered numerous price cuts. One could get a discount of almost $150 for the laplet. This sparked rumors that an upgraded gadget is on its way.

While rumors point to a Surface Pro 4 announcement this week, it remains unclear what are the specifications that come with the device. Some reports noted that there would be three sizes for the upcoming unit - 8-inch, 12-inch and 14-inch models with the smallest gunning to rival Apple's iPad Pro Mini.

It is also said that the display of the hybrid tablet would utilize a 2K display and powered with Intel's Core M Processor. However, another report in Neowin said that it would instead come with the "fifth-generation (Broadwell) Intel Core i-series CPU."

Taking cue from the Surface 3, the upcoming laplet is rumored to be completely fanless which would make it very lightweight and thin. The body would come with a "tiny hole" design to let the heat out.

For selfie addicts, it would be great to know that the laplet reportedly comes with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter. Its connection ability allows LTE while the build would allow Xbox games streaming.

Microsoft has yet to confirm the release date.
