'Doctor Who' Season 9 Air Date & Spoilers: New Monster Leaked? David Schofield to Play Odin in BBC Series?

With the upcoming fifth and sixth episode premiere of "Doctor Who" Season 9, fans of the popular British series are eager to see the new adventures of the Twelfth Doctor. Word is out that a new monster would soon be introduced to the series to make the Doctor's adventures extra exciting.

According to EN Starz, the series hinted of a new creature that Clara and the Twelfth Doctor would face in the coming season. BBC TV posted on Twitter a photo that shows the new monster that would greet the fans in the coming episodes.

Doctor Who TV reported that the photo was uploaded with the caption, "What's that in the shadows? New monster about to meet Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman."

The creature in the image is a bit unclear. Carter Matt described it as something that "looks almost like someone has stuck a Frisbee on top of a body and then put a red decal on it like one of those bicycle reflectors that you see in traffic."

Not many details have been revealed about the upcoming monster - what it's capable of and when exactly would the Twelfth Doctor encounter it. Fans would have to watch the upcoming episodes to get a full glimpse of the creature and know what it means for Clara and the Doctor.

Meanwhile, another mythological character is reportedly joining "Doctor Who" Season 9. A report in Den of Geek revealed that David Schofield is set to join the show as Odin in two episodes, titled "The Girl Who Died" and "The Woman Who Lived."

Schofield is known for his roles in the movies "Merlin" and "Da Vinci's Demons." While the actor has been confirmed for the role of the Norse god-king, it is still unknown how his character would fit in the story.

"Doctor Who" dabbled in mythology and other historical figures in the past, so it would not be a surprise that they are doing it again this time. The character's participation could bring the Doctor to older times and into the era when vikings are still rampant.

Whether Odin is the real deal or just another alien in the series would have to be seen once the season resumes.

Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back to reprise their roles as the Twelfth Doctor and Clara in this season. "Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams and Rufus Hound would also be seen in Season 9.

"Doctor Who" Season 9 would hit TV screens in 2015.
