Android Lollipop 5.1 vs iOS 8.2: Latest Updates from Google & Apple Compared!

Talk about the mobile industry and two names would immediately crop up as the top contenders - Apple and Google. Both firms have come up with their own operating systems for mobiles that frequently begged the question of which is the better system.

In 2014, Apple released the iOS 8 while Google launched the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Since then, there had been updates to the system to accommodate new features as well as fix glitches and bugs that annoyed users.

Meanwhile, features of both operating systems are quite similar although have enough distinction to make them different from each other. One example is the cloud services offered by the firms. Android, being under Google, utilizes Gmail or the Google Drive, while Apple has the iCloud.

For the interface, the two operating systems have upgraded the way they display the notifications. Android allows more freedom in customizing the notifications one receives. Meanwhile, iOS 8 allows users to remove notifications with a simple swipe of the finger.

The new OS also allows more finger gestures in navigating the system. A user could simply tap and swipe the screen to access different applications.

Since smartphones are popular because of the different apps one could download, one major concern for users is the way the apps are launched. The good thing with both iOS 8 and Android 5.1 Lollipop is that they did not skimp on the animation for each command and access of the phone.

In the latest OS, Google finally added a voice assistant that would rival Apple's Siri. The new OK Google voice assistant could be used to send a message, make calls, or even search the Internet.
