‘GTA 5’ PC Release Date, Requirements & Specs: Director Mode Coming to Gamers

“Grand Theft Auto 5” will finally reach desktops next week. This 2013 action-adventure game from Rockstar Games has dominated gaming consoles since it was launched and its PC variant was supposed to be released earlier this year.

“‘GTA V for PC will go live on April 14 at 12:00 AM BST (In the U.S., this is Monday, April 13 at 7:00 PM ET, 4:00 PM PT),” Rockstar Support wrote on Twitter.

It would appear that “GTA” players who live in the U.K. and Ireland can start playing their pre-downloaded game as early as 12 midnight. Players from the U.S. and Canada, on the other hand, can start playing on April 13.

Fans of this game franchise, who want to play with their personal computers, have long been waiting for its fifth installment, and they are glad to know that it will feature an all-new Director’s Mode. This particular feature has been through drastic improvements since “Grand Theft Auto 4” was released for the Windows PC, the PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360 in 2008, according to The International Business Times.

IGN has stated that the 65 GB desktop version of the game has actually been delayed two times already. It was originally slated for a Jan. 27 release, but was moved to April 14.

John Macpherson, the lead designer of the Toronto branch of Rockstar Games, has confirmed to PC Gamer that “the Rockstar video editor in ‘GTA V’ features a number of significant improvements.” Such improvements include the new option to start and stop video captures whenever the Director’s Mode has been initiated.

It will give gamers access to playing and recording the characters within the game during story spiels and heists. The special feature allows its players to control members of the in-game population and its animals.

Apart from that, they can also make alterations on the time of day, weather, and can even apply some cheats to further manipulate what happens in the in-game scenes. Plus, they can even add tracks to a video and edit them. They can also make some changes to the depth of field effects, as well as make camera edits. The videos can then be shared on YouTube and can be submitted for Rockstar Games’ Social Club contests.

Two full DVDs comprised the Xbox 360 version of the game while the PlayStation 3 version took one Blu-Ray disc. When its makers upped the ante and threw in a lot of new animations and features, the game was developed into seven full discs, according to Techno Buffalo.
