'Friday The 13th' Cast, Plot & Release Date: Reboot Film To Focus on Jason Vorhees' 'Immortality?' [Rumors]

Jason Vorhees is coming back, and the secret why he cannot be killed just might be revealed this time. News came out that the upcoming "Friday the 13th" movie would focus on his "immortality."

In 2104, Screen Rant reported that a new "Friday the 13th" movie is coming to theaters on March 13, 2015. It seemed timely, as the date also happened to fall on a Friday and it would be the 13th time that the infamous masked serial killer would return on the big screen.

However, Cinema Blend reported that the film's producers delayed the release of the long awaited sequel to the 2009 film of the same name to November 13, 2015, which was once again, pushed back.

In addition to a new release date, the horror film also got itself a new screenwriter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nick Antosca was tapped to write the script for the movie. His previous experience in "Hannibal" and "Believe" made him Paramount Pictures' choice to create the new draft.

The new film would continue the story of Jason Vorhees and the horrors he creates. However, the producers in Platinum Dunes composed of Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Michael Bay are looking for a different approach to give a new twist in the movie.

According to Cinema Blend, the upcoming film would now focus on the character of Jason and why no one can kill him. In all the films that featured Jason, the end always depict that he has been finally silenced only to return alive and more menacing in the next.

Fuller told Esquire in Feb. 2015, "There's always been this supernatural aspect to these movies. It defies logic that, you see Jason get killed in every movie, including ours, the 2009 one. And then he comes back and no one's ever really investigated what that is."

The producer added that the next film would "toy with the idea" of how Jason keeps on coming back.

However, the approach was not originally from Fuller. He revealed that the film's director, David Bruckner, got him thinking about the character's "immortality."

The producer added, "People traditionally want to understand exactly how and why things happen, and yet something so odd happens at the end of these movies and no one seems to question it. So people come to the movie with the expectation that the real villain will be killed and come back."

"Friday the 13th" would employ a "found-footage style" and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 13, 2016, said IGN.
