WWE News & Rumors: Brock Lesnar to UFC After Wrestlemania 31? No, Former Heavyweight Champ Ends Octagon Career!

Brock Lesnar, current WWE World Heavyweight champion, is allegedly going to return to the UFC. However, the former UFC Heavyweight champion refuted all claims and shared that his “legacy in the Octagon is over.”

“It was a hard decision to make,” he told Michele Beadle of ESPN, as reported by Washington Post. “I am officially closing the door on MMA. I re-signed last night with the WWE.”

Instead of returning to mixed martial arts, he continued his reign in wrestling and has already renewed his agreement with the WWE. The signing of the contract was the official proof that Lesnar will definitely not go back in the UFC cage.

The fact that his contract with the WWE was going to expire by the end of the month initially sparked rumors that he was going to return to the sport he came from. However, he put all these rumors to rest just last Monday when he chose to continue to wrestle and signed a new contract.

Now that his stay at the WWE is secured to resume, fans can look forward to watching him in Wrestlemania 31 this weekend which will be held in Santa Clara, California.

“The fighter inside me wants to compete,” he said. “The father and husband – I’m an older caveman now – I make wiser caveman decisions. I’ve thought about this for a year. At the end of the day, it’s all about me wanting to have fun.”

Lesnar also revealed that for the past two and a half months, he was actually training to get back inside the Octagon cage. “I felt physically great,” he shared. “But, something lacked mentally, and that’s not good.”

Just last month, Lesnar was spotted by the cage side during a UFC pay-per-view event that was headlined by Ronda Rousey, female Bantamweight champion. Although his presence further fueled rumors that he was going to make the change pretty soon, he insisted that he was there purely as a fan.

“He hit me with a text two days ago before the fight and asked if he could have two tickets,” UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta told ESPN. “It was kind of funny. That night, we had more requests for celebrities than we’ve ever had. But, we said, ‘Of course. We’ll get you two tickets.’ Then, he called back and said he wanted three.”

According to Fertitta, Lesnar only wanted to “remember what it was like to be part of the UFC.” “He just wanted to come to the fight and, I think, feel it again – feel the energy.”
