“The Walking Dead” Season 5 Episode 14, “Spend,” saw yet another ultimately tragic episode as the gang lost another one of its members. Now that the show has one less character, Unreality TV speculated that the show runners might bring Morgan back in the show’s 15th episode.
Although killing off beloved characters has somehow become a signature of the series, “The Walking Dead” is presently under fire from many social media users. Opposing Views reported that many of the show’s fans are dismayed by how the show keeps killing off its minority characters, referring to its ratio of white to non-white characters.
“Look, this is something in this world that we should be cognizant about,” executive producer Gale Ann Hurd said. “We’ve killed a lot more white characters than African-American characters.”
“And, not only that, I think it’s important to point out that we did cast two African-American actors in roles that were not African-American,” she added. “In the comic books, Bob was white. And the character of Noah was not an African-American.”
An official synopsis was provided for the upcoming 15th episode which reveals that Rick and the rest of the gang will be facing the setbacks of living inside Alexandria Safe Zone. They will soon “realize that sheltered life may not be possible” since life inside the walls “starts to mimic life outside,” as reported by Hollywood Hills.
Perhaps the tension could be attributed to some impending disagreements within the Safe Zone especially after Father Gabriel warned Deanna that Rick’s group cannot be trusted, as reported by Variety. “The day will come when they’ll put their own lives before yours and everyone else’s,” he said, not knowing that Maggie was eavesdropping. “They’ll destroy everything you have here.”
Although his thoughts may not be completely inaccurate, especially after the secret plans brewing within Rick’s group, Alexandria is speculated to be completely destroyed after a massive horde of walkers attack the community. According to the rumor mill, such attack will take place by the end of Season 5 which is only two episodes away.
Comic Book noted that the comics version showed Morgan with the group when they arrived in Alexandria and was only killed off the story when he was bitten by a zombie and murdered by Michonne when the horde attacked. That said, fans find it difficult to imagine how the show runners will build up his reappearance with only the previous cameo to get by.
