Jessica Lange’s exit from the hit horror series, “American Horror Story,” has been made official, as reported by Us Weekly. Lange, herself, confirmed the news on Sunday that she will not be returning for the FX show’s fifth season.
“I’m done,” she said at PaleyFest. “We’ve had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I’ve had the opportunity to play. And, in all madness, I love the writers and Ryan Murphy and the insanity of shooting it.” The show is co-created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
Two celebrities were called in to take over the spot, namely, Cheyenne Jackson and Matt Bomer. Deadline reported that Bomer will be starring alongside Lady Gaga, as the male lead character in “American Horror Story: Hotel.” However, Bomer opted to keep his lips sealed about the details regarding his character. “I can’t confirm or deny that there might be a love interest,” Bomer said, referring to Gaga’s character.
A Reddit user leaked to Tumblr that Gaga’s character was going to be a sophisticated heiress who is in a lot of debt. She runs the hotel and is pretty much willing to do whatever it takes just to make sure that the hotel remains open for business.
It was previously reported that Lange will still be making an appearance in Season 5 despite the countless reports claiming that she opted to forego taking part in the horror anthology series. Fashion & Style said that Lange will be “the older version of Gaga’s character.” Now that Lange herself confirmed that she is leaving, these rumors have been completely quashed.
Bomer actually previously guest-starred in “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” but was eventually killed off the show. Now, though, he is in for the long haul. “I love collaborating with Ryan Murphy,” he said, according to Celebeat. “It feels like this world where there are no bounds.”
According to a separate Deadline report, Murphy made it a point to incorporate some clues about the next season in the presently airing season. For instance, the Top Hat clue was actually a nod to the 1935 film, titled “Top Hat,” which featured a hotel setting. Also, even if he and the rest of the crew secretly slips in these hints, the cast is reportedly kept in the dark about them.
“They’re all connected,” Murphy confirmed to Entertainment Weekly. “We’re just beginning to tell you how they’re connected. They’re all very separate, but, there’re clues every season, telling you how the different worlds are intertwined.”
