‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ Plot & Cast: Full Cast Revealed! Production Now Underway?

The production for Tim Burton’s “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” has already began as announced by 20th Century Fox. According to Screen Rant, filming will kick off in Florida before the cast and crew fly to the United Kingdom and Belgium.

Burton is quite famous for his knack of taking on relatively dark and macabre stories and turning them into movies. It was not surprising when he decided to make a movie based on the book by Ransom Riggs, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.”

The film has already received its official release date, which will be on March 4 next year. It will be featuring Ella Purnell from “Maleficent,” Asa Butterfield from “Ender’s Game,” Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, Chris O’Dowd, Eva Green from “Dark Shadows,” Kim Dickens, Allison Janney from “Get On Up,” Judi Dench, and Samuel L. Jackson from “The Avengers,” according to Joblo.

Jenno Topping and Peter Chernin will be working with Burton behind the camera as the film’s producers under Chernin Entertainment. Additionally, Jane Goldman of “Kick-Ass” was tasked to come up with the screenplay, as reported by Coming Soon.

“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” focuses on the experiences and adventures of 16-year-old Jacob Portman, played by Butterfield. He follows the clues left by his late grandfather and embarks on a journey to a mysterious island where he gets in touch with the unique people in "Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children." One boy has a beehive in his stomach, while one of the girls has the power of levitation.

He will eventually fall in love with Emma Bloom, played by Purnell, all while the children were under the care of Miss Peregrine, played by Green.

Burton was also the skilled director behind “Alice in Wonderland,” “Beetlejuice,” “Big Eyes,” “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,” “Batman Returns,” “Frankenweenie,” “Batman,” and “Edward Scissorhands.”

The premise of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” is a bit similar to that of Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Since Fox already has that concept in the bag, Burton can take the story to his preferred direction which is expected to be a relatively trippy one with a darker tone.

“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” was published in 2011, followed by its second book, “Hollow City,” just last year. According to the report from Coming Soon, Riggs wants this storyline to be featured in a trilogy.
