'Rock Band 4' PS4, Xbox One Release Date & News: Game Confirmed, What to Expect [Round Up & Video]

"Rock Band" creator Harmonix has announced that the fourth installment of the popular interactive music platform will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In the statement, Harmonix details that they are working with Mad Catz to develop the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft. What can we expect? Harmonix Chief Executive Officer Steve Janiak says its more interaction.

"With Rock Band 4, we're doubling down on the energy and excitement of playing music live with your friends," he revealed. "Focusing on the core experience that our fans have told us they love allows us to evolve established gameplay in meaningful ways that we can't wait to share with everyone later this year," he added regarding the release date.

One thing's for sure, "Rock Band 4" will enable players to gain access to more songs to increase the fun and entertainment. Per the announcement, "Rock Band 4" will have a great on-disc sound track. Fans can expect to have support to more than 2,000 titles available stretching back to the original 2007 "Rock Band" release.

"When we stopped developing Rock Band 3 [in 2010], clearly the market needed a break," said Chief Creative Officer Alex Rigopulos of Harmonix to IGN. "But since then we've been paying close attention to what our community has been saying about it. There's been this steadily growing crescendo of fans saying, 'Hey Harmonix, what the hell? It's time! Why haven't you announced a new Rock Band? We're ready for it!'"

Fans will also be glad t hear that Harmonix is focusing on making sure there's continuity between all the titles and accessories. With the goal to make the game backwards compatible to every previous model of Rock Band guitar and drum set you may have lying around since 2007, your system isn't outdated. The team behind the game is aiming to allow players to carry over all old DLC songs as well.

As an added treat, in line with the long-awaited announcement, Harmonix has made a new downloadable track available for free. "I Still Believe," recorded by Frank Turner can be downloaded free of charge for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The track will be compatible to "Rock Band 4" expected to be released in 2015. 

More information regarding features is expected to be unveiled to fans by May.
