Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's explosive Oprah interview that rocked the British Royal Family, a royal fan had set up a GoFundMe page to help the couple pay off the mortgage of their $14.6 million California estate.

During the CBS interview watched by more than 17.1 million viewers, the 36-year-old Prince admitted how the Buckingham Palace and his father, Prince Charles, the next in line to the British throne, had financially cut them off.

Harry explained that signing a multimillion deal with Netflix and Spotify was not part of their initial plan. They were forced to take the opportunity to earn money to afford security.

"My family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us," Harry revealed.

In early 2020, Harry and Meghan step back as senior members of the Royal Family, moved to Canada, and finally made a big leap to the United States. They lived at Tyler Perry's mansion for a while before purchasing the 18,671 square-foot mansion in Montecito.

The nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom property includes luxurious amenities such as a library, spa, wet and dry saunas, a gym, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar, and a five-car garage. It also features a massive garden, a tennis court, a tea house, a children's cottage, and a pool.

According to reports, the sprawling Montecito mansion was initially listed for $16.9 million, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were only able to score it for $14.6 million.

Mortgage Fund

According to The Sun, 56-year-old Anastasia Hanson is the brainchild of raising money to help Harry and Meghan pay their mortgage. The royal fan from California told the British news outlet that she launched a GoFundMe page for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because he felt sorry for the couple after their tell-all interview with Oprah.

"When they came to the USA, they were without jobs and with limited funds," Hanson, who lives 25 minutes away from the royal couple's sprawling private estate, said.

"They've stated that they've had a very rough time, so this fundraiser is a way to give help, compassion, and love by paying their home loan in full," she added.

Hanson launched the GoFundMe page a few days ago and immediately received donations from anonymous donors.

"I am Anastasia Hanson of Ventura, California and I am raising funds to pay off the mortgage for the Montecito, California home of Harry and Meghan," the now-deleted page reads.

"Were 2 million supporters to donate just $5 each, the Goal is met and the loan can be paid off. After their interview, I was moved with compassion to help get their home paid off. As they are now financially independent, this will help and be a loving gift."

However, the page was shut down last Saturday after receiving only $110 from three donors.

She kicked off the donation with $5. It was followed by a "supporter" who gave $100 and another "anonymous" donor who chipped in $5.
