'The Huntsman' Cast & Release Date: Jessica Chastain To Replace Kirsten Stewart? [Rumors]

Fans anticipating "The Huntsman" movie, loosely based on the "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" fairy tale, would be thrilled to learn that more actors were casted for the prequel. However, it seems that former lead Kristen Stewart would not be included in the upcoming movie.

According to The Daily Mail, Universal Pictures sealed the deal with Jessica Chastain to join the cast of the movie. Chastain would work beside Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron in the upcoming film.

Both Hemsworth and Theron would return to reprise their roles as The Hunstman and Ravenne, respectively. No details are known yet regarding the role the 37-year-old actress. However, Hitfix speculated that Chastain might play the role of the Huntsman's wife.

The film is meant to be a prequel to the first film and would talk about how the Hunstman first met Ravenna before they came across each other again with the arrival of Snow White, said The Variety.

In 2012, Stewart played the lead role of Snow White opposite Hemsworth in the film directed by Rupert Sanders.

However, Sanders, who was married at that time, was caught in an affair with Stewart, who was with Robert Pattinson, around the same time of the movie's production.

It is not clear whether the incident played a part in both Sanders and Stewart not being recalled for the upcoming film.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan would now helm "The Hunstman" after Frank Darabont decided not to direct the film. Nicolas-Troyan is an Oscar nominee for Visual Effects on the 2012 film. "The Hunstman" is his first feature film on the director's chair.

Meanwhile, Darabont wrote the screenplay for the prequel, while Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote earlier drafts for the movie.

Emily Blunt would also join the cast, said Cinema Blend. It is rumored that she would be portraying the role of Ravenna's evil sister and would now be the main antagonist in the film.

Nick Frost, known for his role in Cuban Fury, would also return as one of the dwarves in the original movie. Earlier this year, it was reported that Frost, Eddie Marsan, and Toby Jones would not join the cast as they were unable to strike a deal with Universal Pictures. However, it seems that Frost was able to iron things out and the actor would again reprise his role as Nion in the upcoming film.

"The Huntsman" would hit theaters on April 22, 2016.
