LeBron 12 ‘Double Helix’ Release Date, Price & Where to Buy? [Photos]

The newest color scheme of the LeBron 12 was inspired by the double helix structure of DNA, hence its name, “Double Helix.” According to Nike, the fact that playing basketball skillfully is in LeBron James’ DNA served as the inspiration for the line’s latest look.

The bright pink and volt colors are in beautiful contrast to the shoe’s burgundy base. The color way also comes through the design’s translucent outsole, representing the double helix connection. The LeBron 12 “Double Helix” will be out in Nike, Kixify, eBay, and other selected retailers worldwide on Feb. 28 at $200.

Kicks on Fire says that this new model actually shows an association to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The rich colors were reportedly inspired by the said team’s hues but showcased a newly incorporated “energized” look.

It started off with a megafuse upper portion. The shoe is predominantly made up of a dark and rich Merlot that somewhat resemble the primary shades of the Cavs. Pink pow shades were used to accentuate the heel tab, the medial Hyperposite panels, the lateral Flywire, and the shoe’s inner lining. Volts were applied on the design’s Swoosh brandings and on the medial Flywire. To complete the look, a silver Swoosh was added to its sides.

For those who want to own more of this DNA-inspired collection, Sneaker Bar Detroit says that the Feb. 28 release of the LeBron 12 “Double Helix” will also come with a matching apparel collection such as a pair of socks, a ball cap, and a shirt. It would appear that Nike Basketball planned to end February with a bang.

Although it may look interesting and unique, plus it carries James’s name and has his symbol on it, many potential buyers complained about its price tag of $200. Rumor has it that the LeBron 12 “Double Helix” will be out on Sneaker Steal at $150 pretty soon, much like its predecessors.

One more thing that the buyers did not like about this design was its pink side. They loved the color way but were turned off when they saw the bright shade of pink.

“Pink is still for girls – just to let you new kids know,” said one fan. “Fashion has blurred the lines and they are making more and more gender-neutral shoes. I’m still a grown a** man. I’m not wearing pink shoes.”

“These look awfully good on my feet,” responded another fan. “Dudes could say pink is for girls – and I had always felt the same way – until I saw these. I’m going on 39 years young and I can truly recognize that fire is fire.”
