'Avatar 2' Cast, Plot & Release Date: Sequel 'More Emotional' Than First Film?

Fans waiting for the sequel of the science fiction movie, "Avatar," would have something new to be very excited about. Word is out that the much-awaited sequel to the film by James Cameron would be more emotional than the first film released in 2009.

The script for the second movie is yet to be completed as Cameron works on three "Avatar" films simultaneously, said Crossmap. However, the story, which would pick up where the first film left off, is reportedly more intense and emotional than the first one.

Zoe Saldana, who would return to reprise the character of Neytiri in the movie, was already given a peep by Cameron on the sequel's storyline.

"It was wonderful. Jim took us and gave us a tour of all the reference pictures, telling us the stories. I haven't been able to read the scripts. They're still working on them," she revealed.

Saldana added, "We kind of get choked up. Cameron gets emotional telling us about the story. I get emotional hearing about it, so I'm looking forward to it."

"Avatar 2" would start shooting soon and location would still be the same as the first film, which is in New Zealand, said Christian Post.

However, it seems that fans waiting for its release would be a bit disappointed to know that the date was pushed back to a Christmas Day release for 2017 instead of the initial 2016 schedule.

The reason for the delay is the fact that writer and producer James Cameron has also been working on other installments of the movie.

"We're writing three simultaneously. And we've done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films," said Cameron. "Were' not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that and parallel with that, we're doing all the design. So we've designed all the creatures and the environments."

Air Herald reported that "Avatar 3" has been tentatively scheduled for release on 2018, while "Avatar 4" is on 2019. It remains to be seen if these next two movies would follow the same schedule or be delayed as well.

Cameron hopes to speed things up for the second film.

"We expect to be able to accelerate the process quite a bit, because we've improved a lot of the software and computer graphics tools, and we've been working very closely with Weta Digital down here in New Zealand developing a whole new suite of tools to speed up the process," said the director.

Aside from Saldana, Sam Worthington and Stephen Lang would also return in the sequel to play their respective roles.

Sigourney Weaver was also confirmed to be part of the cast but the people behind the film still needs to announce her potential role in the sequel.
