Nike Release Dates 2015: Classic Cortez, Blazer Mid Metric ‘Royal Blue’ & More! [Photos]

Nike just revealed the official release dates for some of the brand’s most awaited models. Shoe collectors will want to get their hands on the returning shoe designs that revolutionized their own part of the footwear industry, such as the Classic Cortez, the iconic Blazer Mid, and the premium Fast Times.

The Nike Classic Cortez is making a comeback in the running world, reminding its competitors that it paved the path for track shoes when it first came out in 1972. It will be out by Feb. 28 with a price tag of $100 and will allow today’s athletes to once again run longer and faster without having to give up comfort.

According to Nike, the Classic Cortez was actually the brainchild of famous track coach, Bill Bowerman, who wanted to come up with running shoes that are as comfortable as they are durable. It was designed with an upper part made of leather, a tongue made of foam, an outsole made of herringbone, and a board EVA midsole that features an extra slice in its heel. This added bit provides the model an eight-millimeter heel-toe drop, just like the other running shoes today, as detailed by Runners World.

Some might remember the Classic Cortez in the Academy Award-winning movie for Best Picture, “Forrest Gump,” which starred Tom Hanks.

The Nike Blazer Mid “Royal Blue,” meanwhile, is the forerunner when it comes to the brand’s line of basketball shoes. It was first introduced to the market in 1973 as the best design for playing on hardwood floors but became a staple on the streets after revamps applied through the years, according to a separate Nike report.

Kicks on Fire says that this new version lacks the iconic swoosh but boasts of a geometric pattern that can be easily seen on its upper portion. Although it was previously recognized as a classic design for the hoops, its returning look makes it fitting for a night out on the town. It will be out by Feb. 27 on selected Nike sportswear retailers all over the globe.

One last returning design out by February is the Nike Dunk Low Premium SB “Fast Times.” It has been regarded as the pioneer shoe in the skateboarding scene since 2008, according to another Nike article. With its new look, it also appeals to the tastes of not only skateboarders but of heavy music lovers as well.

It features black leather perfectly layered with bleached denim over classic white and its gum sole. Sneaker News says the popular Fast Times logo can be found on its insoles and right tongue. The Nike Dunk Low Premium SB “Fast Times” will be sold in local skate shops on Feb. 28 at $105.
