‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 11 Spoilers & News: Patrick Dempsey Divorce Wife of 15 Years

Patrick Dempsey and wife of 15 years, Jillian Fink, have decided to get divorced, as confirmed by Us Weekly. TMZ reports that it was Fink who filed for a divorce in a Los Angeles court on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.

"It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage," Dempsey and Fink said in a statement they gave to PEOPLE. "Our primary concern remains the well-being of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family's privacy at this very sensitive time."

Moreover, TMZ also mentioned that Fink wants to have joint custody of their children, Tallulah Fyfe, 12 years old, and twins, Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, who are both seven years old. According to the report, she also wants to get child and spousal support.

Us Weekly says that the couple opted not have a pre-nuptial agreement and that the "Grey's Anatomy" star's net worth is estimated to be around $40 million.

Despite how expensive and time-consuming his hobby is, Fink apparently, was the one who encouraged him to pursue it. "She was the one to encourage me to go and drive," Dempsey informed PEOPLE back in 2007.

In fact, according to USA Today, Dempsey was even in Florida, participating in a 24-hour Daytona endurance race event when Fink filed the divorce papers.

Before multiple online media outlets released their reports regarding the divorce, Dempsey said in an interview on Friday, as reported by Radar Online, that was he working hard to balance his passion for racing, his acting job, as well as his life as a family man.

"For me, I've been incredibly fortunate to have 'Grey's' run as long as it has," Dempsey shared. "That's been taking up a lot of time, and, of course, you have a life off the track, and your family and trying to balance that out."

Still, despite the divorce news breaking out a couple of days ago, Dempsey was reportedly spotted still wearing his wedding ring. He was photographed with the ring at the Rolex 24 race, which was held at the Daytona International Speedway.

The actor's personal life, however, may not be the only one in chaos as his character in the hit show "Gray's Anatomy" may also be missing.

Shonda Rhimes, the show's creator and executive producer, finally broke her silence and confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that "[viewers] might not see Derek for a while," as reported by Christian Times. Thankfully for the show's loyal fans, though, she did clarify that McDreamy "will not be gone for good by any means."

"We end them in a fairly dark place," Rhimes revealed to Entertainment Weekly. "He's walking away and she's sort of pushed him out the door."

This scene was in juxtaposition to the huge blow out that happened between Ellis Grey, played by Kate Burton, and Richard Webber, played by James Pickens, Jr., which seems to have insinuated that Meredith Grey-Shepherd has finally become her heartless mother.
