LG G4 Release Date Confirmed; 16 MP Camera Specs Impressive

The LG G4, the company's upcoming flagship Smartphone, is rumored to sport a 16-megapixel back camera. Rumors about this new improvement only circulated on the Internet when a Techmaniacs code for the new camera specs, as reported by Christian Today, was leaked.

The 16-megapixel specs is a very huge step from the LG G3's 13-megapixel camera. It could only mean that it is now at par with the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, it is still a long way from Samsung's upcoming device, the Samsung Galaxy S6, which has been rumored to sport a 20-megapixel rear shooter.

Even if a lot of LG's rival smartphone manufacturers have already been marketing their own units that have cameras of the same, if not higher, capacity for a while now, it is still worth noting that LG has taken the specs for their rear cameras to the next level.

So when will users see the 16MP camera-outfitted LG G4?

The Mobile World Congress 2015, which will be held in Barcelona, believed to be the biggest annual event in the mobile industry, has already been scheduled to run from March 2 to 5, as confirmed by TechRadar. Many of today's biggest tech companies are believed to be making their way to the Spanish City in order to show off their latest handsets, such as the HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6, and the Sony Xperia Z4. Sadly, it does not look like LG can launch the G4 by then.

The company is reportedly interested in releasing their upcoming flagship device no sooner than one year after they launched the LG G3, according to Chosun. "We rolled out the G3 in May last year. So, we do not plan to unveil the G4 at this year's Mobile World Congress and spend more time perfecting the new phone," the anonymous company exec told the Korean website.

Instead of showing up at the event with an incomplete unit, LG is opting to perfect the project and, perhaps, add more special features to the handset. Rumor has it that it will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC and that it will be running on the latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS.

According to Ken Hong, the Director of Corporate Communications, the company is presently on an experimental mode when it comes to determining which new features to add to their high-end smarpthones. This indicates that LG is hard at work with the G4.

"I don't think we are going to be able to sit back and expect people are just going to fawn over the G4," Hong said, as quoted by Trusted Reviews. "I don't think people are as loyal to the Android side as they are on the iOS side. So, you really have to win every customer with your products."

Still, given the fact that LG is among today's spear headers in the industry, they could still be present at the MWC 2015 to unveil a number of wearable devices.
