'Pirates of the Caribbean 5′ Trailer, Cast & Plot: Leading Lady Found? Who is Kaya Scodelario?

The "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" film looks foward with its preparations for production. The Johnny Depp-led franchise is set to make a fifth installment of the highly popular series with Kaya Scodelario believed to be the frontrunner for the female lead role.

In an exclusive report, Deadline claims that "The Maze Runner" star is in early talks to appear in the silver screen as the female lead.

Scodelario will be playing the love interest of Brenton Thwaites's character, Jack, who teams up with Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. Earlier plot leaks indicated that the lead female character would be an accused witch. As it stands it's unclear if Scodelario's role is one-and-the-same.

Kaya is a 22-year-old British actress with a number of acting credits under her belt. 

Earlier acting prjects of the beauty include her role in U.K. series "Skins." Last year's "The Maze Runner" boosted the actress' career and she is set to appear in the film's sequel subtitled, "The Scorch Trials." She has also appeared in other projects that include "Moon," "The Truth About Emanuel," "Clash of the Titans," and "Wuthering Heights," reports SlashFilm.

Plot Details

According to The Mirror, Thwaites, 25, plot details have been top secret but shares his excitement about being part of the project.

"I think that is going to be happening. I don't know much about the story, they're quite tight about that stuff," Thwaites exclusively told Mirror TV. "I'm heading back to Australia to begin [pre-production] in a month."

He then added: "It's about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. There's a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it's about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad. I'm looking forward to it. It'll be a lot of fun!"

Johnny Depp is set to return to reprise his role as swashbuckler Captain Jack Sparrow with Javier Bardem (villain Captain Brand) and Geoffrey Rush (Captain Barbossa). Orlando Bloom, who starred int the first three films admitted to being "open" to cast for the fifth installment. 

The Jerry Bruckheimer produced film, "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, is currently slated for a July 7, 2017 release. To date, no trailer has been released.

While the film is a while away, fans can catch Scodelario in "The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials," set to arrive in theaters September 18.
