Former Oakland mayor and current California governor Jerry Brown is selling the Japanese-inspired Oakland Hills home shared with his wife Anne for $2.595 million. According to San Francisco Curbed, the three-bedroom, four-and-two-half bath home at 7257 Skyline Boulevard has a total of 4,100 square feet of area. It was custom built by Sallie Lang of Bliss Design Build for the civic leader and his wife in 2006.
It features an open and airy space and the place could also use some aesthetic updates. The couple bought the house for $2.4 million when Jerry was still the city mayor.
According to Paradise Post, Land blended Japanese aesthetics to the needs of a modern home. Anne recounted the memory of purchasing the home 10 years ago and she revealed that they were in love at first sight with the house.
She said that she found the listing online and as soon as they went to see the place, she said that Jerry fell in love with it when he saw the panoramic view of the bay upon walking down the steps of the great room. The property sits in the crook of the boulevard about halfway between Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve and Oakland Fire Department Station 6 as said in the report.
For Anne, the best features of the home would be its beauty and serenity. The place also provided them with privacy and said that one of their houseguests said that he had the best night's sleep in his life while staying in their home.
Jerry is known for opting for simple type of homes. Back in 1970s during his first time as California governor, he refused to move into the Historic Governor's Mansion of California and chose to live in a barely furnished apartment during his first two terms. The couple is also keeping a place in San Francisco so they decided to let go of their Oakland home for good.
