How Much Does A Superstar Architect Home Actually Cost?

Superstar architects' works have always been the standard bearers in terms of construction or design in the past years. Not surprisingly though, beauty and design comes at a steep cost. 

Here are some of the most luxurious and expensive modern homes from different known architects.

• The Esherick House of Louis Kahn, The highly unique style of Kahn's work, combining the dignity and weight of the ancient monuments with modernism is shown in the Kimbell Art Museum and Salk Institute. His most expensive one was sold  in 2014 for $920,000. According to Arch Daily, the Greenbelt Knoll project, the first suburban development in Philadelphia, consisted of 18 homes, in which six were recently sold for the median value of $200,000.

• The Storer House, Los Angeles by Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright had starred in almost every textbook of architectural history, landing on the more affordable ones. Over 400 Wright originals remain standing today, usually private homes. His distinct designs of homes range from $160,000 Usonian gem in Wausau, WI, up to $6.8 million in Los Angeles.

• The Stillman House by Marcel Breuer. With his trademark long horizontal lines, this home has its main building, four bedrooms as well as a separate studio that has a sunken living room, a kitchen, a pool and a floating staircase. This piece of modern art has been sold recently for $2.3 million.

• The Bow Bay House, Rubicon Bay, Lake Tahoe by Julia Morgan. Being the first woman awarded by the American Institute of Architects with a gold medal, Julia Morgan famous for her Mediterranean Revival-inspired design of Hearst Castle in California. The Bow Bay House is sold for $14 million.
• The Bob Hope Residence by John Lautner. Built in Palm Springs, CA for Bob Hope in 1973, this 23,000 square foot home has been listed in 2013 with a price of $25 million.

• The Singleton House, Los Angeles by Richard Neutra. His post-and-beam beauty, the Singleton House, is a 6,400 square foot estate situated on 5 acres at the top of Bel Air. According to Realtor,  the home has been sold in 2012 for $16.5 million.
