Manny Pacquiao Next Fight May 2015: Floyd Mayweather Jr or Amir Khan? Pakistani Wants Match Too [Poll]

Reports are still circulating on boxer Manny Pacquiao possibly competing against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. sometime this year, but another boxer has recently stepped up to challenge both boxers in a match, and it's in the form of former two time world champion Amir Khan, Independent reported.

While Pacquiao is still hashing out deals for a potential bout with Mayweather, he might consider taking a break from the proceedings to face Khan, who recently beat out Devon Alexander in Las Vegas via a unanimous vote.

Khan was not offered a chance for a welterweight world title bout, but his unanimous win might get him a chance to face either Pacquiao or Mayweather, something he has long since looked forward to.

During an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, the British boxer talked about his win over Alexander and said he wanted to compete against either former stablemate Pacquaio or the undefeated Mayweather as both players were very much at the top of their game, according to Independent.

"This puts me in a great position to fight the biggest names of boxing; Mayweather, Pacquaio. That's where I belong," he said, adding that he was looking for a match come May 2.

However, despite Khan's wishes, he might have to wait for both boxers to be available, and reports have it that he might not get to compete against Mayweather at all.

In response to Pacquiao's wishes for a fight, Mayweather has officially declared that he was ready to compete against the Filipino boxer, and he's even putting down May 2 on the calendar, according to CBS News.

Mayweather made the statement during an interview on the Showtime network while promoting in San Antonio, saying it was actually because of Pacquiao's camp, specifically promoter Bob Arum, that the match had been delayed for the past five years. He even claimed to have offered Pacquiao $40 million several years back but was refused.

Mayweather also said that while he was ready for the fight, he warned Pacquiao not to expect so much money compared to how much he himself was going to make, considering the fact that Pacquiao lost twice. He also said he was confident that he will win.

Pacquiao's match against Mayweather may be the latter's last match before his retirement, according to The Daily Mail. Mayweather only has two fights left in his contract with Showtime and while one was reserved for his May fight with Pacquiao, the other date scheduled would be in September, which clashes with the Ramadan, an event that Khan strictly observed.

Pacquiao and his camp have yet to reply to Mayweather's remarks or to Khan's challenge. However, with the boxer having expressed a desire to compete against Mayweather numerous times, he is most likely to accept Mayweather's challenge than Khan's.
