House Tour: Traditional Beach House Transformed into a Cosmopolitan Property

Here's a look at a traditional beach house that was recently transformed into a cosmopolitan-inspired property.

Designer Patrick Ediger decided to redecorate his client's Marina del Rey home. Ediger agreed, and he decided to adopt a more urbane approach that he felt was perfect for the young couple and their growing family.

In an interview with Elle Décor, Ediger said, "They were transitioning from a fun party space to a family space. Be we wanted to hold onto the sophistication of the home and its architecture, and give it a cosmopolitan vibe."

The designer decider to juxtapose fabrics and textures to make the room casual but sophisticated.

"In the living room for instance, a neutral linen sofa and warm wood coffee table are relaxed and family friendly, while silk drapes and chrome accents elevate the look. A grasscloth wallpaper with a leaf-like motif offers a nod to the beach in the master bedroom, while faceted glass lanterns add and industrial edge," the publication noted.

According to Ediger, he decided to combine the high and the low so the property will look as if it's high-maintenance and super expensive when actually it's not. Before and after photos have also been shared on the site, and it revealed that huge transformation from the once beach house.

The master bedroom, for instance, now boasts a cream and light brown shade as opposed to its yellow paint before. Accents and pieces of furniture found inside the room have also changed greatly.

The living room now looks more modernized than ever since the cushion, dining table, dining chairs and the paint have all been changed. The walls on the dining area also have crystal-like accents, and atop the dining table lies a huge chandelier. Even the bathroom has been transformed into a private place reminiscent of royalties. With just a few additions and rearrangement, the designer was able to completely transform the overall look and theme of the place.
