Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date & Specs: Everything You Need to Know

As Christmas and the end of the year comes nearer, Samsung fans and smartphone enthusiasts are looking more and more into the rumors and leaked info surrounding Samsung's much-anticipated smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S6, uSwitch reported.

Samsung is still keeping mum on their upcoming smartphone. However, it's not stopping people from looking into what details are available online, speculations though they may be, as they wait for the Galaxy S6.

When it comes to the look of the device, the Galaxy S6 will supposedly debut as Samsung's flagship phablet at 5.5 inches, sporting a quad HD screen with a 2560x1440 resolution. Should the rumor be true, it'll beat out its predecessor's 5.1-inch screen, and rival LG G3's similar 5.5-inch screen.

Unconfirmed information circulating the net also claim the Galaxy S6 will have an octa-core processor for its Asian releases, while units for the United States and Europe territories will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 quad-core chipset.

The front camera is rumored to come up to five megapixels, while the rear camera is looking to be a big improvement on the Galaxy S6 compared to its predecessor -- from the Galaxy S5's 16 megapixels up to 20 megapixels. This will allow Samsung to compete with the Xperia Z phones from Sony.

Rumors also have it that Samsung will debut an all-metal version of the Galaxy S6, with a metal frame and leather effect similar to the Galaxy Note 4. It will also feature and Edge variant, most likely a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, that will feature a curved display, according to Know Your Mobile.

With all the improvements on the Galaxy S6, especially when compared to the Galaxy S5, the tag price of the newer phone will most likely end up higher, according to Tech Radar. The Galaxy S5 sold for around $972 SIM free, so consumers could expect a price around the $1000 mark.

As for the release date, various months and dates next year are being thrown around as to when the Galaxy S6, called "Project Zero," officially hits the market, according to Gotta Be Mobile.

The Galaxy S6 is reportedly coming out earlier than when the Galaxy S5 came out, which was in April. It has yet to be confirmed though, but consumers could likely expect Samsung to announce the date and the specs in advance during one of their events and then subsequently drop the phone a few weeks later, something Samsung has done over the years.

However, interested consumers should remember that the device could still be delayed if it hits a snag during the development process. For now though, everything is still left to speculation and is awaiting confirmation or announcements from Samsung.
