Android Wear Update Download: New Watch Face, Modes, Google Store App & More!

Google has introduced some much awaited updates to Android Wear on Wednesday, including a section on the Play Store which only contains watch faces for its smartwatch platform, The Verge reported.

In an effort to focus on personalization and customization, the Android Wear updates feature watch faces designed by Rebecca Minkoff and Hugh Turvey, among others.

According to Google's official blog site, choosing a smartwatch design is about "expressing who you are, however you want, right on your wrist."

The watch faces can be downloaded through Google Play, much like when downloading an app.

In addition, Google has also updated the Android Wear app on smart phones for an easier and more convenient browsing, downloading and switching of watch faces.

The Android Wear app will also keep track of the battery and storage usage of the apps, which will let users know which specific software is consuming the most amount of battery power, according to Venture Beat.

On the watch itself, some updates have been made to navigation, including an option to undo previous action such as accidentally dismissing a card.

Additionally, some navigation tweaks include the ability to reorder some available actions when you tap on the watch face, with the most recently used ones appearing at the top of the list.

A set of quick settings is brought up when a user swipes the smartwatch from the top down, the options now include one which allows its user to block notifications from a particular app directly from the watch.

Lastly, the update has included the option of a Theater Mode, which keeps the screen off and mutes notifications when in a dark room, while a Sunlight Mode does the opposite by maximizing brightness outdoors.

Android Wear is Google's first real foray into this new frontier of wearable devices. Now, after only six months since its initial release, the Android Wear collection has grown to include six different watches-- the ASUS ZenWatch, the LG G Watch, the LG G Watch R, the Moto 360, the Samsung Gear Live, and the Sony SmartWatch 3, according to Android Central.

All six watches are unique, some are square, and others are circular. Some are sporty while others are traditional. Because of the difference in its styles, users can have more freedom to choose which watch fits them the best.
