Three Flatettes Transform Back Into One Grand Victorian Italianate House

A Victorian Italianate terrace was composed of three flatettes or tiny flats, each with their own outdoor toilets, but the new owners want it to be transformed back to the grand home it used to be.

According to Domain, the new owners came to Stubbs Design Tribe to restore the three flatetts into one house with a contemporary layout. And because the new owners loved collecting different things, they want the home to be designed in a way that that their collection can easily blend in with different contemporary character styles.

One of the owners who love recycled materials like French oak floorboards from Woodstock Resources said, "I enjoy playing with fabric, so the walls have been kept white."

Meanwhile, the living room which is considered a suitable place for conversation or entertaining guest features a circular, wall-mounted, black fireplace. Its sleek design goes well with the sofa that has a slip-cover made with mismatched fabrics and the retro chairs that she furnished with orange wool.

Moreover, the grand new home features a spectacular display of three-level, modular green wall installed by CityForest in a central patio that draws natural light into the house. The green living wall in that open courtyard can also be viewed from different parts of the house.

But apart from the magnificent character featured by the home, the ground level consists of the dining, kitchen and living spaces that are connected to a covered balcony through the antique, green French doors from the original design. The lower level also has a family room, a bedroom and a bath that features sunken bath that opens to the courtyard. That room can be offered to guests as it has its own entry. The second level features the bedrooms and a study in the attic. There is also a wet area that can be sealed with a glass door so it can be used as a sauna.
