The historic Barton Hall that stood through Alabama's history is now listed for $1.75 million. According to Realtor, the property was originally built in the 1840s, and it survived the Civil War through the Depression era.

One of the greatest features of the 10,000-square-foot property is the double reverse spiral staircase that starts from the widow's loft of the roof and spirals down. The site reportsthat it is truly a staircase that deserves a serious recognition.

The current owner Robert J. Osborn Jr. said that the home was designated as a national landmark because of the staircase. Aside from the stunning staircase, the first floor also features grand rooms with high ceilings and hardwood floors, and it also retained its original plaster work. Osborn said that his favorite place in the house is the library because of the cozy fireplace which makes it the best place to relax and read a book.

Listing details of the property also reveal that the double parlor floors have working fireplaces and pocket doors and are decorated with chandeliers. Despite retaining some of the original design of the place, the home also has a few modern upgrades which include a glassed-in sunroom and a modern kitchen that has two dishwashers. Overall, the place is still in good shape and was also restored to be lived in.

The place has a total of five large bedrooms with closets and a bathroom, but Osborn said that some of these bedrooms served a different purpose during the lean years. He revealed that during the depression, there were different families that lived in each room, and one room was even used for hay storage.

Today, the bedrooms were meticulously restored and also feature working fireplaces, hardwood floors and floral wallpapers. The place went through several renovations and restorations over the years, and the current family is now ready to hand the place to a new owner.
