Lakers Trade: Rajon Rondo & Kobe Bryant Have Breakfast Together; Talk Transfer to LA?

Basketball superstars Kobe Bryant and Rajon Rondo were spotted having breakfast together in Boston on Thursday, fueling speculations that the Boston Celtics star might be transferring to Los Angeles, the New York Post reported.

According to HNGN, there is a possibility that Rondo will be traded this season and that Lakers is interested in having him.

The rumors of the trade only strengthened after Rondo was spotted having breakfast with Bryant, along with a third person who is believed to be an agent.

Although the news of a trade has never been confirmed, sources told ESPN that their respective teams have held discussions about the possibility months ago.

It has yet to be revealed which camp initiated the breakfast meeting.

The photo was posted by Baxter Holmes on his Twitter account. Holmes covers news of the Lakers for ESPN, but he used to be a Celtics beat writer for the Boston Globe.

"Kobe (and) Rondo grabbed breakfast in Boston," Holmes wrote on his tweet. "KB loves him. LAL could probably get RR for two 1sts (and) Nash expiring deal."

The two basketball stars have mutual respect for each other. Back in 2013, Bryant told ESPN that if no team wanted Rondo, "send him my way," adding that he "loved" everything about the Celtics star.

"Everything. I love his attitude; I love his chippiness, his edge, his intellect, his know-it-allness. All of it. That's what makes championship players. What guard have you seen at his size that will get you 18 assists, 17 boards and 20 points all in one game? That's unheard of. I love that kid. I always make a point of talking to him during All-Star [Weekend]. He's one of my favorites."

According to reports, the Lakers have set their eyes on Rondo since he helped Celtics win the Championship against the team back in the 2008 NBA Finals, when he was just a rookie.

Rondo shows great defense in the court, and if the Lakers can sign him, he can help the team battle point guards during the Western Conference, according to Rant Sports.

"From what I understand, he's an a-hole, like me," Bryant said, according to ESPN.

To which Rondo's response was: "That's a great compliment, coming from Kobe. I feel the same way about him."

Aside from the Lakers, the Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings are also believed to be interested in drafting Rondo, according to HNGN.
