Naomi Watts Shares Experience with New York's Real Estate

Even houses in hot real estate markets like New York have their problems. Even Celebrities like Naomi Watts and longtime partner Liev Schreiber are not immune to the downside of New York's real estate.

According to Page Six, in a recent interview with Architectural Digest for its yearly celebrity homes coverage, Naomi said, "With New York real estate, you never get everything you want." She was referring to the time when Hurricane Sandy came by New York City, flooding her residence, just right after they found the space they wanted.

As a result, they hired an architectural firm to repair the space. Watts said that one thing she learned was that big renovation are not easy. Designer Leandro of Ashe + Leandro described the project as "redesigned on steroids." Then he said, "I had drawings in four months, and then we did the entire renovation in ten. It was insanely fast. But fun. Naomi brought a great eye and taste to the project and was a terrific creative partner."

Meanwhile, the celebrity couple listed their home in the Hamptons hamlet of Amagansett, NY. According to Realtor.com, the five-bedroom and 7.5-bath country-style home is listed for $5.85 million. The property is quite big for a cottage, measuring 6,061 square feet. Nevertheless, it is described as old-fashioned but cozy. The listing details that the big family room showcases a farmhouse appeal with wood paneling, vaulted ceilings and a bluestone fireplace.

The farmhouse appeal of the cottage extends to the kitchen that is lined with whitewashed cabinets and filled with top-of-the-line appliances. The dining room is adorned charming with light-green tray ceiling and polished floor made of hardwood. Naomi Watts will reprise her role as Evelyn in the upcoming "The Divergent Series: Allegiant," which premieres in March 2016. On the other hand, Liev Schreiber will be back for the fourth season of "Ray Donovan."
