Does it Pay to Build Toilet Room Inside the Bathroom?

No one is judged according to how he engineered his house. Your house's appearance may not necessarily speak of you, yet, sometimes, how your house looks like invite others to speak about you.

Take for instance having a toilet room within your bathroom. The fact that you've spent extra thousand dollars to design it that way, you'll surely feel you are being luxurious about it. But, others seem to find it too absurd.

So, what really are the pros and cons of having a toilet room within your bathroom?

The Pros

It is a wise style for those living alone.

Dubbed as "water closet" by British residents living in common older houses in the United Kingdom, this separate room with a toilet bowl installed in a larger bathroom seems to be a good set up if you are living alone and you are saving the space of your tiny apartment. You can have a toilet and a bathroom in one then to save up some space. But, wait, does it really save any space or does it only add another expenses for a personalized bathroom? You see, this is what makes it absurd for other people.

There is a clear boundary between your bathroom and your toilet.

According to Curbed, having a separate toilet room means keeping all your intimate business with the toilet separate from the things you do in the bathroom. A resident's friend says it's a proper "separation of church and state," so to speak.

It can save time.

Having your toilet room built inside the bathroom can save the minutes you'll be spending transferring to another room should you have your call of nature. This means you don't need to get unnecessarily upset if there's someone using the toilet room outside the bathroom because it is only next to you and you can use it exclusively.

The Cons

It can create annoying disturbance.

In an article "Let's Talk About Bathroom Design Pet Peeves," one comment from a reader said he doesn't want his bath or shower be disturbed by someone who needs the toilet. Yes, interruption actually happens if your loo is just inside your bathroom. In that case, either of you should sacrifice -- your shower or the other person's call of nature.

It can be a silly use of space.

Another reader has pointed this out implying that such design is not helpful at all. If you have a tiny bathroom already, it's would sound silly to still divide the space for a toilet room.

It is not good for a claustrophobic person.

Unless you don't suffer claustrophobia, having the toilet room inside your bathroom will always harmful to your health or to any visitor you have. You don't want to end up bringing any of your random visitor to the hospital after having used your tiny toilet room.
