Tesla Announces First Home Battery Officially for Sale

The much anticipated home battery of Tesla called Powerwall is finally being released and Australia will be the first to give it a try because of the big number of homes that are using solar power.

According to Housing Wire, after exciting home users and the tech world in general, Tesla has finally made the announcement that its Powerwall storage batteries are ready for purchase. However, the company has prioritized the release in Australia where a sizable number of houses are being powered by solar energy.

The Tesla Powerwall received a lot of inquiries from homeowners Down Under as soon as Elon Musk announced his company was doing work on a battery that can store more power and has a longer life expectancy. Australian solar provider Natural Solar managing director Chris Williams said, "The response since we announced it has been unprecedented, and that has flowed through to a large number of orders. It's really a pivotal moment in the renewable energy industry and we're proud to be a part of it."

Australia is not the only country embracing solar energy as the United States is also taking steps to promote the use of such power sources in homes across America. In a move to jumpstart the movement, the Federal Housing Administration has set into motion a new plan that will reduce insurance rates for homes so homeowners can get financing for energy-efficient housing.

In a post by AFR Weekend, the Powerwall battery system is made of rechargeable lithium-ion which is similar to the one used in the Model S electric car also made by Tesla. Its basic function is to store energy in big amounts that can help reduce power bills and also give backup energy to any household. In Australia, Nick Pfitzner and his family are the proud owners of the first Powerwall to be sold commercially.
