LA Builds World's Most Expensive Stadium Complex

The Rams are heating up the Los Angeles real estate sector. Aside from bringing in more home sales to the industry, the returns of the NFL football paved the way for the construction of the world's most expensive stadium complex

NFL Disney World, a proposed 80,000-seat stadium complex, will stand on a 300-acre development in Inglewood, just a few miles from downtown Los Angeles. The stadium complex which will cost $2.6 billion, is going to serve as the home for the NFL's Rams franchise. The cost of construction of the said infrastructure is more than $1 billion than New Jersey's MetLife Stadium which is currently the league's most expensive venue and according to developers, its capacity could exceed 100,000 during special events.

International architecture giant HKS have already been contracted to design the building. The architectural firm announced that the stadium will feature a 19-acre transparent canopy which will cover the entire infrastructure and parts of the surrounding development.

Inglewood Mayor James Butts is obviously ecstatic about the project. He recently announced the government's ambitions to host the Super Bowl at NFL Disney World, which developers described as the "cornerstone" of a year-round sports, music and entertainment district.

The unnamed onwer of the LA stadium complex compared their ambitions for the development to the famous Disney World theme park in Florida. The NFL Disney World footprint is about twice the size of the original Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and boasts a 6,000-seat performance venue, over 1.5 million square feet of retail and office space, 2,500 homes, a 300 room hotel and 25 acres of parks.

The construction of the new stadium is expected to be finished just in time for the 2019 NFL season. For the meantime, the Rams will continue to play at their former home at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

The owners of the team have already invited the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders to join them at the new venue.
