Colorado Luxury Mansion for Sale: The Walden House Is Listed for $33 Million

Dubbed "The Walden House," a 12,000-square-foot majestic mansion in Colorado has been made available for purchase to the tune of a whopping $33 million.

According to Curbed, a stunning Colorado luxury estate just 15 miles off the ski resort called Vail has been listed and is awaiting home buyers who have $33 million to spare on a housing property. One of the unique features of this home is the choice of materials used to build it. Locally sourced materials like beetle kill pine wood and field rocks were among the primary building components used to finish the opulent home.

The luxurious Colorado mansion listed has its huge glass windows facing the mountains for exhilarating views plus the courtyard itself is beautifully landscaped to match the surroundings. The main living spaces of the house are connected to the outdoors with a Zen theme that gives the whole property a relaxing and soothing ambiance.

In a post by Realtor.com, part of the reason for such an expensive price tag is the name of the architect who designed the property. Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects in New York has her signature all over the place. Among her noted projects are Neue Galerie in the Big Apple and Le Stanze del Vetro in Venice. The Walden House which has seven bedrooms and 10 baths is a rare exception for Selldorf who is not known for doing residential projects.

The Colorado luxury estate is the most expensive bit of real estate in the Vail Valley. Liza Hogan, the listing agent in charge of the property said that Selldorf was originally commissioned to work on a different property and it turned out so good that the owners decided to hire her again to use her magic on the house. Hogan said, "They wanted something beautifully private. It's really exquisitely thought out."
