'Amazing Spiderman 3' Movie, Cast & Release Date: Sony Comments on Aunt May Spin-off Rumors

Sony has announced earlier that it has plans to expand the Spider-Man franchise with various spinoffs highlighting the Venom as well as the Sinister six. One rumored spinoff making rounds over the internet is a film that features a young Aunt May.

According to Comic Book Resources, a source from within Sony has denied that such a project is in the works and said "a Spider-Man spinoff starring a young Aunt May is a 'silly rumor' with 'no validity whatsoever'."

Latino Review was the first to report the alleged plot that Aunt May, played by Sally Field in the series, is going to be featured as a younger version of herself. "A movie about Aunt May as a youth, before she was shouldered with the responsibility of raising Peter Parker," was indicated as the angle to be pursued.

"The target mood is some sort of espionage story in the vein of AMC's Mad Men, which sounds like a way of saying 'classier Agent Carter' without name-dropping Marvel's upcoming series," detailed the website.

The Review also recalled an earlier attempt to create a new origin story for the web-slinging superhero. In 2003, Sony released a mini-series titled, "Trouble" which sought to establish Aunt May as the birth mother of Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. In the series, Aunt May, Uncle Ben, Richard and Mary Parker were only teenagers and eventually, May gets pregnant by Richard who then gives up the baby to Mary.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3

The third installment of the Andrew Garfield-led franchise is set to be released in 2018. The film, to be directed by Marc Webb is reported to be "overcrowded with several villains," reported the The Christian Post.

Aside from Venom, the darker version of Spider-Man, it's possible we may see the members of The Sinister Six making an appearance in the movie. The group consists of Spider-Man's most lethal enemies like Electro, Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, and Sandman.

When it come to Peter' love interest, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) died in the second installment but rumor has it that Stacy's character may be making a comeback.

TCP wrote that Stacy could return to life as Carnage and have no memory of her past and relationship with Parker. While there is no confirmation, it's believed that actor Garfield is keen on working with Stone, his real-life girlfriend, for the continuation of the superhero series.
