‘The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask' Getting Nintendo 3DS Remake

Finally, after a lot of teasing and rumors, Nintendo has officially announced that the popular N64 game "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" will be getting a 3DS remake.

"As we worked on the remake version, we set out to maintain the original level of challenge, while keeping the game accessible for anyone," quoted Polygon of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in an announcement. "So we also focused on making sure the gameplay experience was as smooth as possible."

Gamers have clamored for the video game company to remake the classic game after "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" was remade in 2011 to coincide with the console's launch.

Earlier this year, during the E3, Kotaku recalls how Eiji Aonuma teased a possible release but it was never confirmed -- until now, that is.
"I do know that fans want to see Majora's Mask. I've heard that voice, it's very, very strong, and I'm always listening, is what I would say," said Aonuma when asked whether "Majora's Mask" would be remade for 3DS.

He added: "I hear the voices of the fans. There are so many out there. It's very loud, and just to acknowledge the fact that the need, the want is out there, I put that in there."

"Majora's Mask" features similar gameplay graphics as that of "Ocarina of Time" but structure of N64 games have a varied structure to other Zelda games.

The Verge wrote that "It [the game] takes player character Link away from the series' familiar setting of Hyrule, placing him instead in the land of Termina, and tasks him with saving the world by halting the imminent collision of the moon. Players can travel forward and backwards in time, but they only have three in-game days to stop Termina's complete destruction."

The site further noted the "delightfully dark" tone of the game that keeps gamers on their tip-toes as they feel impending doom.

"Majora's Mask feel like the only Zelda game that could've been directed by David Lynch," concluded The Verge.

The price of the remake was not discussed but it's believed that it will most likely fall in the standard price range of $40, noted Game Spot.

"The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" 3DS will be released in the spring of 2015.
