'Minions' Movie, Trailer & News: First Teaser For Origins Story Released

The adorable yellow creatures from "Despicable Me" are getting their own spin-off movie titled, "Minions" and the first trailer has been released.

The Minions are staring in their own origin movie that shows the tiny little henchmen have been around for millennia and have offered their services to various bosses.

"Minions, Minions have been on this planet far longer than we have," said the narrator in the trailer. "They go by many names, Dave...Carl...that one is Norbit, he's an idiot. They all share the same goal - to serve the most despicable master around."

The footage shows the Minions serving a T-Rex during pre-historic times, a Pharaoh in ancient Egypt, Napoleon and even Dracula.

"Finding a master was easy, keeping a master was tricky," said the voiceover's trailer spanning three minutes.

Based on the teaser clip, the minions tend to change masters due to their hilarious incompetence, writes USA Today. Each master the minions have tried to serve have fallen to their demise due to "little mistakes" of the adorable creatures.

After switching from master to master, their very existence was in danger because without a master, they lose their purpose. This promoted Kevin to set off to search for the most evil villain to serve. This quest led the three brave minions -- Kevin, Stuart, and Bob -- to New York in the year 1968 -- 42 years before Gru -- where they search for a new employer.

It was in the Big Apple where they met the world's first female supervillain: Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock), noted Star Pulse. After a bit of a scuffle, they eventually find themselves in the service Gru, played by Steve Carell.

According to CNN, the film will feature both new characters as well as the much-loved "Despicable Me" favorites, but "the main focus will be on the shenanigans the loveable yellow guys engage in as they interact with humans."

Some stars cast to lend their voice to the feature film include the likes of Jon Hamm, Allison Janney, Michael Keaton, and Steve Coogan.

Mail Online reports that the two franchise films, "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2" brought in nearly $1.5 billion worldwide. It's estimated that the first film raked in $543 million while the second installment grossed $841 million worldwide last year.

The animated film is set for July 10, 2015.
