Brandon Beemer is back in "Days Of Our Lives" to take on the role of Shawn Douglas Brady. But according to Soap Opera Spy, the decision to bring back Beemer caused some speculations on why Jason Cook left the show.
And now, "Days of Our Lives" executive producer Ken Corday discusses the whole issue in order to set the records straight. It has been reported that in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Corday shared how they were able to decide to make the quick change of the actors to portray as Shawn Brady. The show was able to lightly shift the actors from Jason Cook to Brandon Beemer.
According to Corday, everything they did was their way to accommodate Cook's contract request. And aside from that, it was also the best way to keep the character's integrity in place. However, Corday pointed out that was not really meant to be.
Corday explained further that what he really wanted was to sign Jason for a full-time contract as a regular cast of the series. But then, Jason wants to take on his career further. He wants to pursue television and movie projects outside of "Days." This caused the breakdown for the contract negotiations.
To add more to that, Corday revealed that everyone was disappointed when they found out that Jason opted not to return to the show. But it was also a blessing in disguise that Beemer was available for it.
The show was reportedly lucky to have Beemer back on board. If that was not the case then it would be impossible to continue Shawn, Belle, and Phillip's storylines.
Meanwhile, Beemer shared on his Twitter page that he is happy to return to "DOOL." He will appear on Jan. 19.
