'Transformers 5' Release Date, Cast & Plot: Unicron in Maximals vs Predacons Beast War?

There are a lot of questions and speculations surrounding the fifth installment of popular action franchise, "Transformers."

With major changes in the horizon, including the departure of director Michael Bay, who has led the production of all four franchise films, there are also rumors of yet another casting shake up.

Recently, IB Times via Enstarz reported that the "Age of Extinction" sequel may make take on a "theme of the beast wars."

"The rumor that the sequel to Age of Extinction will feature the Maximals warring against the Predacons, has been doing the rounds. IBT has come up with a list of the main players if such a war were to actually ensue. The list also serves to educate the not-as-hardcore fans about the powers of each character. The beasts that are featured on the list include Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rhinox, Megatron, Scorponok and Tarantulas," said Enstarz.

Taking off from the way "Age of Extinction" was shot, with the prehistoric characters, it's believed that we may see a change in the autobots we've grown to love into wilder, more animalistic beings.

"The beast version of many of the characters is found in the G1 toyline series. Like Optimus Prime is Optimus Primal, Bumblebee is Cheetor, and from the Decepticons, StarScream is Terrasaur and Blackout is Tarantulus," claimed Enstarz.

Taking off from where the last film ended, it's possible that the upcoming film will be shot outside of Earth. Possibly Cybertron, where Optimus was seen departing for.

In terms of casting, many outlets are reporting that Mark Wahlberg won't be given another go and will, like Michael Bay, be departing from the franchise. Original cast Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf are highly cited as making a possible return, wrote Fasion&Style.

Earlier this year, Megan Fox, via F&S, did say: "I'm not sure if ill return. As long as things are good between everyone and Shia returns with me I'd like to see us partner up with the new cast like a crossover."

MoviePlot does indicate that it's highly unlikely that LaBeouf will be returning but Fox has said in numerous occasions that she is open to making a comeback.

Fox is set to star in a sequel for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Should she return to "Transformers," there's a chance that filming would be delayed to accommodate her schedule to appear in a second film for the Turtles.

"Transformers 5" is slated to hit theaters in 2016.
