‘The Elder Scrolls Legends’ Release Date: Dev Confirms ‘Elder Scrolls Card Game’ for 2016, Cites Delay

Game publisher Bethesda has announced on Monday that the company's popular collectible card games, "The Elder Scrolls Legends," will not be released this year. The company's VP of Marketing and PR has disclosed via Twitter that the delay is due to meticulous polishing of the game, a report from iDigital Times said.

However, the company has assured its avid fans that once the game is officially launched, it will be free to play. The company said that the game is expected to be released in 2016. Hines said that the title is already playable, but heemphasized that it needs to be polished, according to Gameranx.

"There has been a bit of a card collecting game craze sweeping the games industry over the past few years. What began with Mojang's Scrolls snowballed with Blizzard's massively successful Hearthstone. Jagex, developers of RuneScape, are also working on their own card battler, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends, which is currently in closed beta," the report said.

It can be recalled that "The Elder Scrolls Legends," a popular strategy card game by Bethesda, was first announced at E3. The game's announcement trailer did not show any gameplay, and as of press time, the company has not released new details as to how the game will be played. However, with only less than 15 days in 2015, both avid fans and die-hard players of the game will have no choice but to wait for 2016 for the game's official release date.

"For those of you who may not remember, The Elder Scrolls Legends is a digital collectible card game similar to Blizzard's Hearthstone. It is a free-to-play game that is planned for the PC and iPad at launch. The Elder Scrolls Legends is being developed by Dire Wolf Digital, and published by Bethesda. While no release date was ever given, we now know it will be coming some time in 2016," iDigital Times said.
