Sony announced its Alpha A68 DSLR last month, but the announcement was released for the UK market. Now the company has announced that their newest offering will come to the US in April 2016.
Based on an article from Modern Readers, the camera is specifically designed for new photographers who are looking for a budget-priced quality DSLR.
It was initially announced in November that the Sony Alpha A68 will be out in the market by March 2016, but Sony quoted prices in Euros and not in US dollars or any other currency. Sony announced Friday in a press release that the device will be out for American customers in April.
The company's statement indicated that the A68 will cost around $600 for just the camera only. The additional 18-55mm lens to the package will charge an extra $700.
According to Uber Gizmo, the Sony A68 is equipped with a 24.2-megapixel APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor, a Bionz X image processor and an ISO range of 100-25,600. It has a hybrid electronic OLED viewfinder that provides 100% coverage and high quality color reproduction. It also has a 2.7-inch TFT LCD display that can be moved 135-degrees upward and 55-degrees downward.
One main feature of the Alpha A68 DSLR is a translucent mirror which Sony calls the 4D Focus AF system - it consists of 79 autofocus points. With this, autofocusing should be really fast and it can continuously shoot for up to eight frames per second. It also sports a 2.7-inch TFT LCD display that can be tilted 135-degrees up, and 55-degrees down.
It is also equipped with a control wheel at the back that allows a quick fingertip access to the camera settings.
Compared to the Sony A7S II and A7R II, the Sony Alpha A68 does not shoot 4K, but there is an option for 1080p at 24, 25 and 30 frames per second.
