Charlie Chaplin’s Andalusian-Style Home Up For Rent

The famous quote "When opportunity knocks- Grab it" holds true for all potential renters to Hollywood legend Charlie Chaplin's 1920s Andalusian-style home. It's not often that one gets a chance to live life like the Tramp.

Chaplin's two bedroom-one bath home, in the middle of West Hollywood, costs $6,250 per month. It is designed by Arthur & Nina Zwebell and architect Leland Byrant.

This Hollywood Shangri-La features swishing palms, fountains, pools and courtyards with brightly colored Moorish tiles. The property also boasts of pointed-arch doorways and windows, brightly-colored stained glass windows, custom light fixtures, dark walnut floors and beautiful open-beamed Cathedral ceilings, Realtor reports.

Its exteriors include a two-storey Spanish baroque open fireplace.

Famously known for his "Tramp" character, Chaplin was conferred with an honorary Academy Award in 1972 for his contributions to the film industry. Overall, six of his films have been included in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress.

Little Britain's Matt Lucas is paying a tribute to Charlie Chaplin by filming a new silent comedy series "Pompidou." The programmes are due to air later this year on BBC One.

"I'm a huge fan of the visual comedy of Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and of course, our very own Mr Bean," said Lucas, who wrote the six-part series, Mirror reports.

The visual comedy series will star Lucas in the title character (an elderly oddball aristocrat) and Alex MacQueen as Pompidou's long-suffering butler. Bella Emberg, Roy Barraclough, Jane Asher and Tony Way will make cameo appearances.

"Matt has worked incredibly hard on creating a unique comedy universe for Pompidou," said Shane Allen, Controller of Comedy Commissioning for the BBC. "Only someone of his immense talent and experience could achieve something that feels so modern and inventive which also has an underlying nod to past classic comedy masters like Chaplin and Laurel & Hardy. It's rare to have a comedy the whole family can enjoy together," Digital Spy reports.
