DC’s Justice League Dark Director Announced; Sons of Anarchy Star Ron Perlman Joins Cast As Swamp Thing?

Warner Bros. has revealed that "Justice League Dark" will be under the helm of director Brandon Breese, while rumors suggest that Ron Perlman will portray the Swamp Thing.

Movie Pilot has confirmed that Breese, who is known for "Moneyball" (2011), "Ant-Man" (2015) and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011), has been tapped to direct the superhero film.

In a separate report, Movie Pilot also said that Ron Perlman from the "Sons of Anarchy" is joining the cast as Swamp Thing. The role will involve prosthetic make-up for sure to bring the "not quite human, not quite plant" character, but Perlman has the experience already as "Hellboy" and the half-man, half-beast in the "The Beauty and The Beast."

While Perlman's casting is yet to be confirmed, rumors said that he has been put forward by his friend Guillermo del Toro. This is despite the fact del Toro is no longer attached to the project. Del Toro was set to direct the "Justice League Dark" that was in the works back in 2012 titled "Dark Universe."

Perlman played Clarence "Clay" Morrow in "Sons of Anarchy" from 2008 to 2013. He is set to appear in "Hellboy 3," "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom," and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Another casting rumor for the "Justice League Dark" is Monica Bellucci for the role of Madame Xanadu, said Superherohype. Bellucci is known for her role in "Spectre" (2015) and "Irreversible" (2002).

"Justice League Dark" is a superhero team in the DC Universe which consists of more supernatural members dealing with situations that are deemed not fit to "Justice League." Its members include John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Shade and Zatanna.

Production for "Justice League Dark" is expected to begin next year, while the film's release date is yet to be revealed.
