Is the mystery of the ‘Fleur de Lys’ transaction finally unraveling?

Who bought the "Fleur de Lys"? This has been one of the most discussed and speculated topics in the real estate grapevine for months now. And just when we thought the Fleur de Lys mania had receded, here comes news reigniting the curiosity.

The Real Estalker reports that Michael Milken, the famous businessman and "junk bond king," could indeed be the mystery buyer!

Citing trustworthy sources, the blog claims that Milken held a housewarming ceremony in the humongous mansion a few weeks ago. The blog also underscores some interesting facts that point towards Milken being the buyer. Apparently, the real estate agent that represented the buyer is Milken's son-in-law.

The blog asserts that while these signs might be obvious indicators, Milken still might not be the actual buyer.

News of Milken purchasing the mansion came up during the sale, but representatives of the Milken Institute told the Los Angeles Times that they were not involved in the deal.

There were several other rumors about the Fleur de Lys being sold to Formula One heiress Tamara Ecclestone. It was also speculated that a Chinese billionaire offered $85 million for the property last month, and there was news of a Russian billionaire picking up the gigantic mansion, too.

Fleur de Lys, one of the biggest mansions of Los Angeles, was believed to have had set a record sale - for $102 million in cash in April. However, when records of the home were made public in mid-April, it was discovered that the buyer actually paid $88 million for the mansion.

The Mansion

Located in the upscale Beverly Crest area, The Real Estalker has dubbed the 4.6-acre estate an "unapologetically palatial white elephant." A 600-feet driveway leads up to the front of the giant mansion, which has 12 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Inspired by "Vaux-le-Vicomte" - a palace on the outskirts of Paris - the home features marble flooring, soaring ceilings, large doorways and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Other than the luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms, the house also has a huge ballroom designed to accommodate 500 people, a duplex wooden library, a music room, a theater and a 3,000 square feet wine cellar. Outside, the home has sprawling manicured gardens, an infinity pool with a spa, a tennis court and two motor courts. Separate guest and servant quarters are also included.

Check out photos of the home here. The residence is currently up for rent at $40,000 a month!
