'Power Rangers' Reboot Movie Updates: Film Will Be Rated R; Kyle Higgins Reveals the Role of Tommy in the Comic Book Adaptation

Avid fans of "Power Rangers" have two things to look forward to. First is the live-action reboot film of the superhero series, and the comic book. People behind these two projects are promising all-new adventures of Haim Saban and Shuki Levy's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."

For the latest updates of the "Power Rangers" Reboot film, CP Entertainment reports that the live-action movie will be rated R for its violence. Talks are swirling around the net that the said movie adaptation of Saban's work is too violent for young audience.

Rumor has it that Lionsgate's upcoming "Power Rangers" is said to be darker in comparison to the stylized and campy children's TV show and will be grittier by far, perhaps even earning a restricted viewership stamp from the ratings board."

It has been reported also that Saban Brands and Lionsgate said that the upcoming reboot of Saban Brands and Lionsgate will be "mature," however it was also promised that the live-action film will stick to its playful tone "as the original television show, and will stay true to the series."

It has also been disclosed that "Power Rangers" will be helmed by Dean Israelite while the script will be penned by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, the duo who wrote include "X-Men: First Class" and "Thor" scripts.

As for the comic book adaptation of Haim Saban and Shuki Levy's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," Comic Book Resources says that Kyle Higgins will be working with "Hendry Prasetyo, Mairghread Scott, Steve Orlando and Daniel Bayliss." The team is committed to bring the classic superheroes back to the comics, teasing fans that it will have fresh and exciting experiences.

CBR says that the new series will be launched from Boom! Studios. Kyle Higgins and Hendry Prasetyo's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" #0 is slated for release on Jan. 6, 2016.

According to the report, issue #0 begins with Tommy joining the team. To quote, "zero issue, picks up right after Tommy, the Green Ranger, rejects Rita Repulsa's control and joined up with the Power Rangers. As he fills in the gap, revealing how Tommy became a true member of the team."

CBR further mentions that Kyle Higgins plans to have Tommy's character as the "reader's eyes and ears" of the fans. Tommy is destined to "weave a story that diehard fans never knew existed."

So there you have it, things are pretty much exciting for these two projects of "Power Rangers." No could confirmed if the live-action will be rated-R. As for the comic book, the first issue will be out in the market on Jan. 6, 2016.
