Kate Winslet to be added to Hollywood Walk of Fame

Kate Winslet, Academy Award-winning British actress famed for her roles in "Titanic" and "The Reader," will have something more to cheer about this St. Patrick's Day, when her name will be permanently sealed in granite on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Monday, the 38-year-old will be honored with the 2,500th star hemming the famous sidewalk. "Titanic" director James Cameron and Winslet's co-star in the movie Kathy Bates will present her with the award.

Winslet will be the latest to join the elite group of Brits whose names already appear on the Walk of Fame, including Colin Firth, Dame Helen Mirren and Emma Thompson.

"We are so happy Kate will be here receiving her well-deserved star," Ana Martinez, who organizes the Walk of Fame ceremonies, told the Daily Express, adding, "We've seen Kate shine in her roles and fans around the world have been waiting for this special day."

Those in the area can go to Hollywood & Vine, outside the W Hollywood Hotel, where the ceremony will take place. Free to the public, the ceremony will likely last about 45 minutes.

Winslet fans can also watch the livestream of the unveiling at 11.30 a.m. (PT) on Monday.

Although less than an hour, the Walk of Fame website has encouraged people to attend in comfortable shoes, as there will be no place to sit.

While Winslet is best remembered for her leading role in "Titanic," she also appeared in "Revolutionary Road" opposite DiCaprio, "Finding Neverland" and "Contagion." In addition, she has done voices in "Flushed Away," "Christmas Carol: The Movie," and a number of other short films.

She is also an accomplished singer and has done the theme song for "Christmas Carol: The Movie."

Winslet has won one Oscar, three Golden Globes and two BAFTAs.
