5 Tips For Indoor-Outdoor Living

Who said that indoor-outdoor living is only for beach dwellers and can-affords? Creating resort-style living right at your very home is no longer just a distant idea now.

Here are 5 tips to achieve an indoor-outdoor living even if you don't live anywhere near the ocean or even if you only have a humble bank account according to Realty Times:

Let the light in

You can let the light in without letting the heat come with it. And if you do have a view, why don't you let that in too? Solar shades are custom-fitted screens installed to your windows to filter harsh rays and they are effective in achieving that indoor-outdoor feel.  You can also have a pergola or outdoor patio (which is very resort living!) for that private nook which at the same time works to deflect sunlight off your home.

Erase the barriers

If you think that open drapes and windows won't cut it for you, why don't you open up several walls? Too much? Not really. "You might incorporate French doors or large accordion doors into your home. This allows you to really open up your space and let the warm breezes blow in," said Kohler.

Create an inviting space that brings the eye - and the rest the body - out.

According to Old House, just a few changes can completely transform your yard. "Have a humdrum porch? A basic patio or a neglected deck? Some simple additions - a hanging swing, mood lighting, a vintage find or two - are all it takes to transform an ordinary outdoor space into an open-air living room that adds value and comfort to your home year-round."

Make it useful

Don't keep your awesome skills in flipping and grilling in an indoor kitchen; instead bring them outdoors especially if you have the space and climate to support it!

"In parts of the country where it's sunny year round, outdoor kitchens... are quite popular," said Kohler. "If you're limited with outdoor living spaces to certain months of the year, you might opt for something like a screened porch with a fireplace or a covered outdoor kitchen."

Cheat your environment

You don't need to live right next to the ocean to enjoy the beach feels. Bring the experience in your very home through some thoughtful landscaping. Some palm trees, a well-placed water feature using beach sand, or even a mini cocktail bar can all mirror that tropical environment vibe that you yearn.
