We have seen Apple succeed in the tablet market, and it's very clear to see that they aim to produce endless supplies of gadget generations year after year. The company does improve each version of their device, providing their consumers better technology on an annual basis. Let's take the iPads for instance. This giant tablet is the company's gateway to their success in the tablet market, allowing for the iPad Mini to soon be developed. The "iPad 2", "iPad 3", and "iPad 4" WiFi models are all designed to give people full user experience, as the first iPad did lack lots of useful functions such as the cameras, plus the internal specs were also quite low end.

After the first iPad release, Apple was able to create great models that improve from version to version. Let's take a quick look at how the company managed to improve on these three gadgets' specs:

"iPad 2", "iPad 3", "iPad 4" Body, Display

For the three devices dimensions, there really isn't a lot that has changed over the years. The "iPad 2" measures 9.50 x 7.31 x 0.35 inches and the "iPad 3" and "iPad 4" measures 9.50 x 7.31 x 0.37 inches. The display size was also kept at 9.7 inches over the course of three iPad generations. The resolution, however, did improve from the "iPad 2" which has 768 x 1024 pixels. The "iPad 3" and the "iPad 4" have the pixel resolution of 1536 x 2048. All three are protected by scratch resistant glass, oleophobic coating.

"iPad 2", "iPad 3", "iPad 4" Platform, Memory

All devices are upgradeable to iOS 9.1. But from the box, the "iPad 2" runs iOS 4, the "iPad 3" runs iOS 5.1, and the "iPad 4" runs iOS 6. The "iPad 2" is powered by the Apple A5 chipset, dual core 1 GHz Cortex A9 CPU, and PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU. The "iPad 3" on the other hand is powered by Apple A5X chipset, dual core 1 GHz Cortex A9 CPU, and PowerVR SGX543MP4 GPU. Lastly, the "iPad 4" is powered by A6X chipset, dual core 1.4 GHz CPU, and PowerVR SGX554MP4 GPU.

All three devices come with the 16/32/64 GB variants, only that the "iPad 4" gets an additional storage variant of 128 GB. All three have no card slot, and the last two devices have 1 GB RAM. The "iPad 2" only had a 512 MB RAM.

"iPad 2", "iPad 3", "iPad 4" Cameras, Battery

The "iPad 2" came with 0.7 MP rear camera and VGA front camera. The "iPad 3" has a 5 MP rear camera and VGA secondary camera. The "iPad 4" is the most improved among the three when it comes to the camera department as it has a 1.2 MP front cam alongside its 5 MP rear cam.

The "iPad 2" uses a Li Po 6930 mAh battery, the "iPad 3" and "iPad 4" use a Li Po 11560 mAh battery, and all devices can last up to 10 hours of talk time.

"iPad 2", "iPad 3", "iPad 4" Features, Colors

All three have the accelerometer, gyro, and compass sensors. They also all come with the iMessaging feature. The only colors available for the three are black and white.

Conclusions

Since Apple do not reduce the price of previous version by a significant cut, it's really best to go for the latest device as it usually has the most improved specifications. Overall, the iPads do get good reviews as the device usually performs quite smoothly, and even arguably smoother than the other tablets.
