"Persona 5" for PS3 and PS4 will be released next year instead of this year as Atlus revealed but despite the delay, Persona 5 Director Katsuhiro Harada and Persona 5 Designer Katsuro Hashino teased the characters and plot of the upcoming game that many players are looking forward to.
The characters, according to Harada "will always be on the run, and will be doing things that they believe to be right," Cross Map reported. The main characters of the game include a 16-year-old student called The Protagonist, the blonde guy Ryuuji Sakamoto, the girl Ann Takamaki, the blue haired Yusuke Kitagawa and a cat named Morgana.
The main character is referred to as The Protagonist (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) who used to live in a cafe owned by his parents' friends. But the "Harry Potter" looking boy became homeless where his alter ego begun and he started wearing a mask. He is the leader of the Phantom Thieves. The persona of The Protagonist is Arsene who wears a mask with giant black wings, Gematsu revealed.
Ryuji Sakamoto (voiced by Mamoru Miyano) is also a high school student who has a wild behavior and is considered a "problem child." His persona is Captain Kidd which looks like a zombie pirate since he has a skull head and a cannon-like arm. He also rides a giant black pirate ship.
Ann Takamaki (voiced by Nana Mizuki) is a quarter-American, second-year student who attends Shujin High School, the same school as the other characters. Because of her different appearance, she isolates herself and hangs out with Ryuji and The Protagonist. Her persona is a beautiful lady called Carmen wearing a bright red, flamenco-style dress.
One interesting character of the game is Morgana (voiced by Ikue Otani), a mysterious black cat whose favorite phrase is, “Don’t call me a cat!” She was saved by the protagonist and Ryuji from a different world. The cat turns into a persona called Zorro, a swordsman wearing a belt with the letter "Z" and resembles the famous thief Zorro.
Yusuke Kitagawa (voiced by Tomokazu Sugita) is an art program scholarship student from Kousei Public High School who loves to paint. His persona is Goemon who wears a flashy, oriental-style outfit with a giant pipe, refined pose, and a kabuki-style face.
"For this game, we're going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance. In the previous game, we wrote a story that involved having a justice group chase down a bad guy that could easily be feared by just about anyone," Hashino teased about the game according to Siliconera.
"This time, it's about a group of high school students that are being 'chased' by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We're writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting," he added.
"Persona 5" is an exclusive game for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 which will be released summer of 2016.
