With the all new Surface Book becoming more and more popular in just a short period of time, it is inevitable that it is also going to challenge some of the best laptops today, which include the MacBook Air.
Design
Design-wise, the Surface Book is just as good compared to the MacBook Air. It boasts a magnesium body and keyboard, and a hinge that makes the screen detachable from the keyboard base when a user prefers to use it as a tablet. In a nutshell, the Surface Book is a hybrid device as it can be used as a laptop or a tablet. More so, it features a touch screen and allows the user to draw or write on it using its Surface pen. The device is available in only one color, silver. The 13-inch MacBook Air, on the other hand, is a little bigger than its rival. It flaunts an aluminum body. However, it is not a laptop/tablet hybrid and does not also feature a touch screen nor a stylus pen.
Display
As mentioned above, the MacBook Air is equipped with a 13-inch LED screen with an impressive resolution of 1440x900 pixels, while the Surface Book has a 13.5-inch screen with a 3000x2000 pixel resolution.
Specs
The Surface Book boasts a core i5 or i7 Intel processor while the MacBook Air is powered by a core i5 processor, which is also from Intel. However, the Surface Book allows the user to install NVIDIA GeFOrce GPU in the keyboard, which is a feature not found on the MacBook Air.
Memory
When it comes to memory, the Surface Book gives the user more choices as the onboard storage ranges from 128GB up to 1TB. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, only gives you two choices, either 128GB or 256GB. Both devices are equipped with memory slots onboard. With regard to RAM, there is only 4GB of space available on the Apple device while Microsoft's hybrid offer starts from 4GB and can be expanded up to 16GB.
Price
MacBook Air costs $1000, which is way more affordable than the $1499 price tag of the cheapest Surface Book.
