The Banner Saga 2 Not Coming This Year; Release Pushed Back to 2016

Release date for "The Banner Saga 2" has been pushed back to 2016 as it misses the release window for 2015.

"The Banner Saga 2" publisher Versus Evil confirmed to Eurogamer on Friday that the next installment will be released in the first quarter of 2016 instead. The sequel of "The Banner Saga" is being developed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. As to whether it will be simultaneously released to the three platforms is yet to be confirmed.

"The Banner Saga" is due to be released this year on PS4 and PS Vita. According to Game Informer, the publisher's update says, "The console ports of the Banner Saga are in full affect. We are currently wrapping up development for the first game now (in with 1st party submission). The delays in the console is mainly game development fun, but also the team has spent time working on console specific controls to make it perform as a console game, more than just a port."

"Banner Saga 2's development is progressing nicely. Customers who have attended Gamescom and PAX have seen its progress. We will update everyone on its launch date when the timing is right."

"The Banner Saga" is a Viking-inspired tactical role-playing game developed by Stoic and was released on Jan. 14 this year. The story and adventures continue in the sequel of the game, which was shown in Gamescom. There is also a third game planned to complete the trilogy.

Meanwhile, "Banner Saga Warbands," a "Banner Saga" miniatures board game, is hitting the Kickstarter campaign on Nov. 12. It was developed by Megacon Games and Versus Evil has assured that it is "in no way has affected our development on porting Banner Saga to consoles nor has it caused any delays Banner Saga 2."
